Don’t know about the color received by the earlier reviews, but ours, which we received as a gift, is a very attractive red. Works great as a trivet — I can put the hottest pan or dish on it and the surface of our counter top remains cool. I have used it as a pot holder a couple of times, just to try it out, and it is easy to grasp a handle with it. It is a very stable surface for a sous vide. An excellent addition to the kitchen
