   For some reason, I managed never to have gotten around to buying trivets. All my life I’ve been using cloth hot pads or a trivet I made for my mom as an art project when I was seven (not kidding). So I bought a couple of these, and they make a huge difference to the “adult” look of my table and its functionality. They are very sturdy and will last a lifetime. They are made of wood, so I wouldn’t put them in the dishwasher, but if they get food on them, a rinse under the faucet should do the trick.
